So I got home, with some minor glitches. If you can call it minor...
In the morning I had to go into work for a couple of hours to tie up some loose ends - not good.
The flight from Baltimore to Atlanta was uneventful. In fact, it was a great smooth flight and I couldn´t even feel the pressure of taking off or landing.
We go to Atlanta and had a few hours to kill, so my dear friend Renata met us at the aiport and we chatted away. Then we made into the flight to Rio. Or so we thought. It was scheduled for 8:30PM.
Everyone has boarded and we´re ready to go. The plane leaves the gate. But we stop and just sit there for a while. I´m thinking there is a back-up in the taking off line - pretty normal. All of a sudden the pilot comes on and says the right engine is not working and we´re going back to the gate so the mechanics can have it checked, but they think it´s the fuel supply valve and it shouldn´t take long so we can proceed.
Pardon me, but I was thining "WTF? We´re taking this plane 5,000 miles to Rio like this?"
So, after some back and forth saying we´re-going-or-we´re-switching-planes (some people around me were kinda freaking out with the idea of going like that) they decided we should switch aircrafts. Phew!
They gave us $7 meal vouchers and had us go eat until they figured what to do. The only place open and that we could eat for $7 at that time was McDonalds LOL. So we did.
We went back to the gate around 10:30PM and the plane was scheduled to leave at 11:55PM. Just remember I had my 4 1/2 year old with me. So we sat on the floor on the gate and I popped Nemo in the portable DVD player. My salvation. Then I realized there was a young couple trying to deal with very tired 1 and 3-year-olds. So I asked the lady if her kids would like to watch the movie as well and all of a sudden we had a mini movie theatre going on with a few tots. All the parents thanked me many times LOL
After we got on the plane, it was smooth sailing (which I was surprised since there are a couple of tropical storms in the caribbean area). Virtually no turbulence whatsoever. T fell asleep before the take-off. I took a few naps here and there, between dinner and the showings of Prince Caspian and 21.
We made it to a very rainy Rio de Janeiro, all in one piece. Thankfully!
T is happy playing with Relatives and his Mommy went to bed at 6PM and slept for 14 hours LOL. All ends well :)

As Daughtry would say...

So I'm going home today. That's why I have been working 12-13 hour workdays.
I took this picture all the way from the Sugar Loaf Mountain. You can see Copacabana Beach, Praia Vermelha and even the club where hubby and I had our wedding reception (the little building on the left hand side of the small beach).
Breathtaking, huh?
Here's more:

See ya!

Overworked, exhausted and underpaid
Yesterday I worked from 7AM-8PM, which means I was out of the house from 6AM-9PM and didn't even see my son.
Today will likely be the same, just because I am going on vacation. BTW, I need 3 people to handle my work.
Enough said!

Way to go, Barbie!
From WUSA9 news
ELKIN, N.C. (AP) - David Hayes' granddaughter just asked him to hold her Barbie rod and reel while she went to the bathroom. He did. And seconds later he landed the state record channel catfish at 21 pounds, 1 ounce.
Alyssa's father had bought the pink Barbie fishing rod for Christmas and she had caught a few bluegill before her grandfather hauled in the catfish.
The Winston-Salem Journal reported the catch Aug. 5 in eastern Wilkes County has been certified as a record by the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission.
Hayes and his granddaughter have been fishing in the pond behind his house since she was big enough to hold a pole.
Hayes said his granddaughter worried he would break her rod. He landed the 21-pound fish on a 6-pound test line. It was 32 inches long, 2 inches longer than the rod.

"I want to wake up in a city that never sleeps"
Just came back from the Big Apple. Last time I was there was in May 2000. Things have changed - a lot!
It was T's first time there and he had a blast. He didn't want to leave (he's my son after all). His favorite part was the huge Toys R Us store on Times Square. There is an indoor ferris wheel and a full size animatronics T-Rex from Jurassic Park.
We had a blast! I stayed with my friend Regina and was able to meetup with some e-friends I had not yet met: Mauro & Lydia, and Sonia with her family.
As usual, there isn't enough time to see everything, so we'll have to go back there again sometime, hopefully soon.
There were some - uh - "celebrity sightings": Chinese Spiderman with a rope web, bizarre statues of liberty, Chinese Elvis, Naked Cowboy, Naked Cowgirl, Freddy Krueger, Frankenstein's creature and weird sidekick, Shrek, Elmo & Mickey Mouse.
The M&M's World store on times square is incredibly cute. 3 full floors of chocolate and merchandise. I purchased a t-shirt that says "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of chocolate" LOL
We've been to F.A.O. Schwartz and even watched a live piano show (like the movie Big). I have a huge complaint, though. The cute little clock tower has been removed!!!!! That's just absurd!
Today, before we hopped on our train back, my friend drove me to Ground Zero and it was heartbreaking. There was this... void. I had such weird feelings going near that place. I didn't leave the car, it wasn't even necessary. They're starting to rebuild around the area now, and even nearly 7 years later, they're still repairing nearby buildings.

This photo was taken by my father when I was about 2 years old. He had taken me to the zoo. While there were giant animals, such as giraffes and elephants around me, I suddenly stop. I notice this little ant and kept staring at what it was doing.
I think it's a very sweet photo and my father had a great eye to catch it.
The funny thing is last week I got an email from my dad with the subject "does that look familiar?" When I opened it, I saw this:

It's a print called "Small Wonder" by Donald Zolan
Now, who has grounds for a lawsuit? :P

You make me feel like daaaaancing
The Wiggles rock!
We had a blast. We met and sat with Ann (w/ Bob & kids), Erica (w/ kids) and Amy (with her mom, kids, and the one on the way).
They even played Aquarela do Brazil for Ben's exit after Itsy Bitsy Spider. Quite an exit, actually! Per Anthony, Ben had more fans that the Wiggles themselves. So many people had signs for Ben, it was unbelievable.
LMBO @ Wiggly Olympics. They had the rings up, like in gymnastics, and Anthony, Paddy & perhaps Ado we hanging there during the monkey dance. We had score cards! (Ann's idea).
Erica had these really cool rings that blink and she shared them with us. T loved it and was in Wiggle-Heaven!
I was quite impressed with Anthony during the show. The man's unstoppable! Except when he had to tie his shoes - twice. Hey, I agree with the sign, Anthony for president. I'd vote for him! :) "If president, I declare every day is polka day" LMBO
My favorite new song: the fairy dance. Love it! I was trying to dance it in the kitchen. Hubby was rolling his eyes - I wonder why :)
LOVED Sam singing in falsetto, you make me feel like dancing. Yep, I did. I would have gotten up, but technically it's a concert for kids :)
Jeff played Humpty Dumpty and had to climb and sit on a wall. T said Humpty Dumpty did not fall from the wall, that Jeff was only scooting down. LOL!
Murray rocks. All the time. I just feel I have to say it again. And he ALWAYS finds us.
The Wiggly dancers were amazing. The new choreography by Caterina was great! Ado & Megan are awesome! Megan is a new dancer, who flips like Ado, she's incredible. And Clare Field. I loved seeing Clare onstage. She's all grown up now. I was all proud of her, as if it was my own daughter there.
Poor Kristy, she had such patience getting the roses and bones from the kiddos. She was overwhelmed and in a hurry to get back onstage. BTW, the costume changes were many and SO quickly.
I took 450+ pictures so it will be kinda hard to narrow it down. I may get to it, eventually :P
But this one of Murray really stood out:

How about the Olympics?
I'm sure everyone is talking about Michael Phelps and how amazing the guy is. I mean, he truly is amazing!
He's from Baltimore, MD and the whole state is incredibly proud of him, especially in his native Baltimore. More than 10,000 Ravens fans stayed in the stadium after the pre-season game against Minnesota was over to watch him swim for his 8th medal and were not disappointed.
Anyway, I found an article about how much he eats a day to keep up his strength. I couldn't eat 1/4 of what he eats a day, but what can I say? He's probably going through one of those growth spurts... LOL
12 thousand calories a day
Breakfast:
3 fried egg sandwiches
2 cups coffee
5-egg omlette
bowl of grits
3 pieces of french toast
3 chocolate chip pancakes
Lunch:
1 pound pasta
2 ham and cheese sandwiches
energy drink
Dinner:
1 pound pasta
1 large pizza
energy drink

Memorable quotes from a 4 1/2 year old - part II
*Watching a lady put the top on a convertible*
- That's so totally awesome!!! (LOL)
*walks over to the car*
- You have a very cool car, when I grow up I want to have one like that!
(lady laughs)
*Leona Lewis singing on the radio: I don't care what they say, I'm in love with you*
- Mommy, she said she loves us, you, me and daddy. But she can't love daddy cause only you can love him, right?
*Keep, keep bleeding loooooooooove*
- Mommy, she said she's bleeding, she has to go to the hospital!!!!
