My little Peanut is going to kindergarten today, in a few hours. Time does fly!!!
Actually, he was supposed to start last year, but the state has been moving the cut-off date sooner and sooner every year, and they wouldn't even test him.
It still does make me mad, though. People look at me and say "but you don't want to rush him", and I hate that. I hate that because I KNOW my son is extremely intelligent and - per his teacher - reads at the level of an 8-year old. Even the pediatrician urged me to try private school to by-pass the cut-off date (which just didn't happen because they follow the same guidelines as the public schools).
My greatest concern is that he will get bored in his classroom and start to put up a fight to go to school. It happened in daycare 2 years in a row and they had to move him up earlier.
Last Friday we had an open house at his school. He was really happy there, and quite comfortable. In fact, he didn't want to leave.
In a few hours he will be entering the school building with a Cars backpack and an apple for the teacher - his idea - anxious for knowledge. A big boy!

Awnn I hope the first day went well and that he had his challenges setup and came back home happy and tired. And of course he'd be a big brain having someone like you as mum! :)
